Farmers Associations and Farmer Cooperatives

Village level institutions - SHGs and FSHGs have got together to form Associations and Women’s Cooperatives. They are successfully addressing and solving the problems and issues of production planning, quality control, and access to saving and credit facility, crop protection, technical support and other social problems at the village level. At the same time they also help their members to face challenges in income generation activities, social security, marketing and bank linkages etc.

To strengthen these associations and cooperatives HARC gives them input in the areas of federation management, internal systems development, role and responsibilities of office bearers, legal procedures, production and budget planning, development of marketing strategies, network building, documentation, enhancement of advocacy skills, negotiations skills, grading, packing and marketing skills, etc. Recently HARC has facilitated two trade oriented women farmers’ cooperatives and five men farmers association for collective marketing of fruits and vegetables.
